Explanation:

weight of base x = 2g

so, equivalents of base = given weight of base/equivalent weight.

= 2g/equivalent weight of base.

Normality of 100ml solution of acid = 0.4N

so, equivalents of acid = normality × volume of solution in litre

= 0.4 × 100/1000

= 0.04

Tocompletelyneutralisation,

equivalents of acid = equivalents of base.

or, 0.04 = 2g/equivalent weight of base

or, equivalent weight of base

= 2/0.04 = 50g
