Answer:

Mountains aren't just a sight to behold—they cover 22 percent of the planet's land surface and provide habitat for plants, animals and about 1 billion human beings. The vital landforms also supply critical resources such as fresh water, food and even renewable energy

Explanation:

Mountains are useful to us and the different living beings on the planet.

  • They are mainly responsible for holding the clouds from going to another places.
  • They are responsible for rainfall in certain areas as they hold the clouds.
  • They are the habitats of some of the rarest species on the earth.
  • They are above the sea level ranging from 1km to 8.848kms, enhancing the future habitat for living beings if tsunamis occur.

Tectonic plateaus :-

  • They are formed when one layer of earth goes upon another forming mountain ranges

Volcanic plateaus :-

  • They are formed when volcanoes erupt,.

Dissected plateaus :-

  • Plateaus that undergo erosion heavily. That is they face soil erosion due to the continuous flow of rivers through them.
