Sadness

Disgust

Anger

• Anger helps me release her repressed emotions in the form of an explosion of sadness or anger, but powerfully.

Fear

• Fear gives me a sense of self-preservation to protect her from life-threatening situations.

So it shows that my emotions act on instinct and, like any cell or organ in the human body, they only do their job. It's true that they  seem  independent, and as you said they have their own feelings. But it's just to add a bit of fun to the movie.
