There are four combinations possible if three equal resistance are taken together.
The all possible combinations are shown in the figures.
1st Combination
All resistors will be in series.
2nd Combination
Two resistors will be in series forming a total resistance of R1 and one resistor is attached parallel to R1
3rd Combination
Two resistors will be in parallel forming a total resistance of R1 and one resistor is attached in series to R1
4th Combination
All resistors are attached in parallel.
