The Happy Prince
- Oscar Wilde
Answer.
- The excerpt ‘‘I am beginning to be appreciated,” he cried. ‘‘This is from some great admirer.” is taken from Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince.
- The young man in the garret was trying to finish a play for the Director of the Theatre. But it was too cold to write and he was hungry. Seeing the beautiful sapphire, he understood that he could buy food, firewood and finish his play. This made him cry with happiness.
- In the story, we see that the eyes of Happy Prince's statue were made of sapphires. The Swallow plucked out a sapphire and carried it to that young man. The great admirer was the Happy Prince, who was supported by the little Swallow.
