2. (i) Is x = 5 a solution of the equation
x2 – 2x – 15 = 0?
(ii) Is x = -3 a solution of the equation
2x2 - 7x + 9 = 0 ?​

x^2-5x+3x-15=0

x(x-5)+3(x-5)=0

(X+3)(x-5)=0

x+3=0

X=-3

x-5=0

X=5

2)2x^2-7x-9=0

2x^2-9x+2x-9=0

X(2x-9)+1(2x-9)=0

(X+1)(2x-9)=0

X+1=0

X=-1

2x-9=0

X=9/2

X=-3 is not a solution of this equation.

moreover this equation can only be solved when 9 is with minus sign.
