A and B will have different Kinetic energy values.

Explanation:

  • As impulse is equal to change in linear momentum.

J = ΔP=P f −P  i

  • Initially  the sphere was  at rest, thus J=mv

Where v is the linear velocity of the sphere after the impact.

Also,  angular impulse H=ΔL

Jr=Δ(I.w) ⟹ Jr  = I.w

As r for A is zero, thus A will do only translational motion

K.EA = 1/2 mv^2

B will do translational and rotational motion.

For B:  Jx= I.w    ⟹ w=  Jx/I

K.E(B) =  1/2  I.w^2 +  1/2 mv^2

Hence proved K.E(B) > K.E(A)

Thus A and B will have different Kinetic energy values.
