2.If a body moves 6m East then 5m North then 4m South, what is the total distance covered by the body and the displacement of the body?

Answer:

Distance = 15m

Displacement = 6.08m

Explanation:

Distance = 6m + 5m + 4m = 15m

As the body moves to 5m North then 4m South. Therefore, it moves

5m - 4m = 1m        

∴ Displacement =  \sqrt{(6^2) + (1^2)\\ = approximately 6.0827m = 6.08m
