2. If the sum of zeroes of a quadratic polynomial f(x) = 5x2 – (3 + k)x + 7 is 0, find the value of k.

The answer is given below :

The given quadratic polynomial² is

f(x) = 5x² - (3 + k)x + 7

Now, the sum of the zeroes be

= - {- (3 + k)}/5

= (3 + k)/5

Given that,

(3 + k)/5 = 0

⇒ k + 3 = 0

⇒ k = - 3

∴ the value of k is (- 3).
