2. If2 = 1.414,5 = 2.236 and 3=1.732, find the value of:
(1) √72+√48. (2) √125/64

Given, √2 = 1.414, √5 = 2.236 and √1.732

(1)

Now, √72 + √48

= √(2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3) + √(2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3)

= (2 × 3) × √2 + (2 × 2) × √3

= 6 × 1.414 + 4 × 1.732

= 8.484 + 6.928

= 15.412

(2)

Now, √(125/64)

= √{(5 × 5 × 5)/(2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2)}

= (5 × √5)/(2 × 2 × 2)

= 5/8 × √5

= 5/8 × 2.236

= 1.3975
