2. Imagine you are still living in the old age where there were no mobile phones or basic phones. Write
a diary entry expressing your feelings regarding writing a letter. Would the letter have the same importance
for you? Would you have suffered any kind of loneliness in the absence of communication?

Dear Diary,

It has been a week since I last sent a letter to my sister. The letter must have reached her by now. She must have even written a reply, but I don’t think it will get posted before Saturday. That is the day when letters of all the children in the boarding school get posted. Since I cannot go see her before the holidays, letters are the only way we can communicate with each other. I eagerly wait to hear from her. I want to know how her week was, what activities she participated in and above all, whether she misses me. Of course I know that she thinks of me as much as I think of her, but it is a lovely feeling to read about it! Sometimes when our letters get lost on the way and don’t reach us, both of feel miserable about it. We put in so much time, effort and feelings into a letter that it is not just a sheet of paper with words on it, but it becomes a symbol of love. When I don’t get her letters, I start looking through the older letters that I have carefully put in a file. That helps me overcome my sense of loneliness. Even though I stay with my parents, it is my sibling who matters the most to me, and so her letters are special too. One letter from her is enough to set the mood for an entire week. That is the power contained in a sealed envelope! And to think it is just paper and just a letter.
