Ten thousand years ago marked the beginning of the Neolithic revolution when humans discovered the cultivation of crops and domestication animals. This period marked a period of significant development for humans as they moved from gathering to growing food and breeding of animals. It became a significant single development in the history of man which happened during the Stone age period. It divided the Old Stone Age (Paleolithic) and New Stone Age (neolithic) period. This is why it is called the neolithic revolution. During this period, man widely used stone tools as raw materials to make tools, weapons, and other artifacts. Tools used by Homo Habillis and Australopithecus are referred to as Oldowan tools, or pebble tools thus represent the first phase of the old stone age.
