It seems that it would be very difficult for organisms to live in a system with no friction because:
No friction means absence of adhesive forces (which is microscopicaly electrostatic in nature). This infer frictionless system is possible where we have no electrostatic force. But that will limit a lot of phenomena that are run by electrostatic force. 2nd thing is uneveness of surfaces. It is beacause of internal molecular structure. The ideal even surface that will cause no friction is practically impossible. I mean think of another galaxy with different laws of physics.
If some how we manage to overcome surface friction, we may make ideal engines. But these will be of limited use because of no braking system.
