2.Justify your answer.The length of a rectangular parking lot is 12 meters longer than its width. The area of the lot is 220 m2.

a.If we represent w as the width of the lot, how will you represent the length the width w?

b.What is the formula of finding the area of a rectangle?

c.Using the information above, how will you represents the area of the lot? (Describe your answer in a form of an equation.)

d.What are the dimension of the parking lot?

Ans a) w+12
b) length*breadth or length * width
c) area of lot= (w+12) * (w)
d) area of the lot= 220 m sq
dimensions =?
area = l*b
—-> 220=( w+12) *w
220= w2 + 12w
w2 + 12w-220=0
w2+ 22w-10w-220=0
w(w+22)-10(w+22)=0
(w+22)(w-10)=0
w=10m
And length = 10+12=22m
e) on increasing length of 5 m on both sides,
new dimensions = 15m and 27m
New area = 15*27=405 m
