Given,

Initially, the distance between the mirror and the image of Kanchi = 5 m

To find,

The distance between Kanchi and her image when she moves 2 m towards the mirror.

Solution,

We can simply solve this numerical problem by using the following process:

As per the principles of ray optics,

The distance between an object and the mirror = the distance between the mirror and the image of the object

{Statement-1}

Now, according to the question;

Initially, the distance between the mirror and the image of Kanchi = 5 m

=> the distance between Kanchi and the mirror in initial condition = 5 m

(according to statement-1)

Now,

When Kanchi moves 2 m towards the mirror, the new distance between Kanchi and the mirror

= 5 m - 2 m

= 3 m

Now, according to the statement-1,

When Kanchi moves 2 m towards the mirror, the new distance between the image of Kanchi and the mirror

= 3 m

So, the total distance between Kanchi and her image when she moves 2 m towards the mirror

= the new distance between Kanchi and the mirror + the new distance between the image of Kanchi and the mirror

= 3 m + 3 m

= 6 m

Hence, the distance between Kanchi and her image, when she moves 2 m towards the mirror, is equal to 6 meters.
