Given :- Lines m and n are parallel cut by transversal t which is also perpendicular to m and n. Which statement is NOT correct ?

A. ∠1 and ∠6 are congruent

B. ∠3 and ∠5 are congruent angles

C. ∠2 and ∠3 are supplementary

D. ∠1 and ∠4 form a linear pair

Solution :-

since transversal t is perpendicular to m and n , we get,

  • ∠1 = ∠2 = ∠5 = ∠6 = 90°
  • ∠3 = ∠4 = ∠7 = ∠8 = 90°

checking all options now,

A) ∠1 and ∠6 are congruent .

  • ∠1 = ∠6 = 90°
  • True .

B) ∠3 and ∠5 are congruent angles .

  • ∠3 = ∠5 = 90°
  • True .

C) ∠2 and ∠3 are supplementary .

  • supplementary angles whose sum is equal to 180° .
  • ∠2 + ∠3 = 90° + 90° = 180°
  • True .

D) ∠1 and ∠4 form a linear pair .

  • Linear pair angles are adjacent angles on a line by transversal .
  • False .

therefore, Statement (D) is NOT correct .
