2 men and 7 boys can do a piece of work in 4 days. It is done by 4men and 4 boys in 3 days. How long would it take for one man or one boy to do it?​

Answer: Let work done by 1 man and 1 boy be x and y .

Work done by a boy in 1 day = 1/y

And work done by a man =1/x

2/x + 7/y = 1/4 (1)

4/x + 4/y = 1/3(2)

1/x + 1/y = 1/12

2/x + 2/y = 1/6 (3)

(3)-(1):

2/x + 2/y = 1/6

2/x + 7/y = 1/4

1/y = 1/60

y = 60

Putting y= 60 in (2) equation :

1/x = 5-1/60

1/x = 4/60

1/x = 1/15

x = 15

A man would take 15 days to finish a work and a boy would take 60 days to finish a work .
