Hey Mate :-)

Here is your answer :

Mention the advantages and disadvantages.

Two advantages of maps:

1) Maps are easier to use and easier to carry around

2) They can show the earth's entire surface or just a small part and can show even a small locality in a great detail

Two Disadvantages:

1) All maps have distortions because it is impossible to represent a three-dimensional objects like the earth accurately on flat maps.

2) Maps with no scale give a poor idea of distances and maps with no legend are frequently confusing to the user.

How are maps useful to us?

Maps use symbols like lines and different colours to show features such as rivers, roads, cities or mountains. All these symbols help us to visualise what things on the ground actually look like. Maps also help us to know distances so that we know how far away one thing is from another.

Give two examples.

1)Large scale maps : These maps represent small area of the earth on a large size of paper sheet with greater details. Examples: Cadastral maps, topographical maps.

2. Small scale maps : These maps represent large areas on a small sheet of paper.
