One reformer was Jyotiba Phule, He spent his entire life in the upliftment of women, for the education of girls and abolition of the caste system.

In 1851, he opened a school for girls from lower classes. Jyotiba Phule was a well-known figure amoung the ‛low caste' who worked for the upliftment of the hindu society.
