Amit Abraham has very wisely said “Clean your mind and our country will automatically get dry cleaned.” India, our beloved motherland is in the direst need of cleanliness. The general state of our cities, towns, colonies, rivers, oceans, lakes, hill-stations, parks, gardens, public transportation systems, railway stations, public toilets, etc, all indicate we as a nation are not pro-cleanliness! The nationwide ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’ is another proof of our vice of apathy to the squalor lying uncleaned around us!
As the entire nation is abuzz with the cleanliness drives and campaigns under the impetus of ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’, let’s contribute to it by making ourselves clean first. We must ensure we become the real participant in this crusade against the dirt and squalor in true spirit. We must start the cleanliness drive from our own home and surroundings. Our zeal and enthusiasm for the cleanliness drive is useless, if our own home and surroundings are unclean, and we are spending hours cleaning the streets in other areas.
The best way to begin this cleanliness drive is your own room, your own cupboard, your own toilet, your own kitchen, your own garbage. Do you keep your own room and surroundings clean? Are you able to maintain the cleanliness around you? If you really do, you feel the satisfaction and contentment of being clean! Now you can lend a helping hand and your expertise in keeping the neighborhood clean! This is how we must go about this cleanliness drive. Remember, only a lit candle can light other unlit candles. Similarly, people who keep themselves clean and their surroundings clean, can help other people to achieve cleanliness objectives.
Besides, a man or woman who keeps himself/herself clean is an inspiration for many. By being perfect role-models we can do much more than by volunteering for cleanliness rallies, which are usually organized for hype in media!
So let the cleanliness begin at your own home! If each one starts maintaining cleanliness at his/her own home, the entire nation will automatically become clean.
The next step after maintaining cleanliness is preserving the greenery. The need of the hour is conserving and preserving the environmental beauty and purity of the surroundings. This task is quite Herculean. The only solution to the critical environmental issues is people’s mass participation in saving the environment. Mass forestation drive, and stopping the use of fossil fuels altogether can solve this problem.
There are other alternative fuels available. The government must act strictly. There should be a ban on fossil fuels. The government must create forest belt near every city or town. Toxic emissions of industries must be strictly regularized. Installation of toxic smoke and effluents treatment plants must be mandatory at every industrial unit. With these measures strictly and immediately implemented the environmental health will improve considerably. Unless the people come forward, this mission can not be accomplished. They must minimize their carbon footprint. They must adopt eco-friendly ways of life. Government alone cannot do anything. People will have to act proactively.
If we succeed in implementing all the above mentioned measures, we will be the beneficiaries; our coming generations will be able to live in a purer and healthier environment. This will be our best gift to them, as well as us. If we fail, the gradual degradation will result in annihilation of the entire human race. May that day never come!
Good morning, honorable Principal, Vice Principal, erudite teachers, and my dear friends. I am _________ and I consider it a privilege to present my views on the topic Clean India Green India. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. This proverb very clearly conveys the significance of cleanliness in our lives. If we maintain cleanliness, we are very close to God as it makes our surroundings livable by minimizing the threats of harmful bacteria and ill-health. A clean surrounding is not only a must for a healthy life but a treat for our eyes also.
With the increasing population, advancing technology and industrialization, the waste generated is humongous posing a threat before humankind. Effective waste management is an essential demand of the hour and urgent need of ours without which no nation can stand the curses of human life. No country can boast of its advancement if it doesn't have a well-planned waste disposal system of both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste. The danger of radioactive waste is another sword that hangs like the sword of Damocles. In no case, we can afford to render our motherland incapable of supporting a healthy life.
The forest reserves of our country are depleting like the hairline of a balding man. Should our country lose its beauty and balance in nature? If we want our country to be a rich hub of different kinds of flora and fauna, we need to make it green and strive for afforestation. Our wanton actions have already taken a toll and the day is not far when the very existence of human beings will face a threat. So, my humble request to the audience is to plant at least one tree in your life. Many conservationists are doing their bit to save the endangered species, hence, it is the duty of each one of us to work to gather awareness and then materialize what is needed for the undisturbed existence of our nation.
I would like to conclude my speech with a hope that the audience and each one of us plays an important role in making our country clean and green.
