2 ml of sodium hydroxide solution is added to a few pieces of granulated zinc metal taken in a test tube. When the contents are wormed, a gas evolves which is bubbled through a soap solution before testing, write the equation of the chemical reaction involved and the test to detect the gas. Name the gas which will be evolved when the same metal reacts with dilute solution of a strong acid.

Zn +NaOH =Na2ZnO2+H2 gas

Gas can be tested by burning splinter . Gas will burn with a popping sound.

Hydrogen gas will evolve when same metal reacts with strong acid

hydrogen gas is evolved and another product which is formed is Sodium zincate and hydrogen gas can be tested by passing the gas through soap solution and the bubbles should be introduced to a burning splinter which produces a Pop sound.

when the same metal zinc reacts with HCl a strong acid it produces zncl2 which is zinc chloride and hydrogen gas itself is liberated
