Answer:

A = 7 and B = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

a = smaller number

b = greater number

a - b = 3                   (1)

a + 2b = 15              (2)

  a + 2b = 15

-  a  -  b    = 3

  (-)  (+)     (-)

=      3b   = 12

b=12 / 3

b = 4

substitute b = 4 in (1)

a - b = 3

a - 4 = 3

a = 3 + 4

a = 7

Hence a = 7 and b = 4

To recheck if the numbers are correct

a - b = 3

7 - 4 = 3

a + 2b = 15

7 + 2(4) = 15
