Given,

One litre of milk fills two identical bottles. A quarter of the milk in one bottle is used to make a cup of tea.

To Find,

How much milk was used to make tea in millilitres.

Solution:

One litre of milk = 1000 ml

As the milk is stored in two identical bottles, each bottle will have equal amount of milk.

Amount of milk in each bottle = \dfrac{1}{2}\times1000=500\:ml

It is also given that, a quarter of milk from one bottle was used to make a cup of tea.

One quarter = ¼ of a substance

Here, ¼ of a bottle of milk is used to prepare a cup of tea.

= ¼ x 500 =125 ml

∴ 125 ml of milk from one bottle was used to prepare a cup of tea.
