Let the cost of pencil=x
Let the cost of eraser=y

2x+3y=9------- 1
4x+8y=22-------2
Multiply eq 1 by 2
4x+6y=18--------- 3
Subtract eq 1 & 3

4x+8y=22
-4x-6y=-18



=2y=4
y=2
Hence the cost of eraser = 2rs
Substituting the value of y in eq 1
2x+3(2)=9
2x+6=9
2x=3
x=3/2
x=1.5rs
Cost of pencil=1.5rs
