2 pens and 3 pencils cost rupees 34 and 5 pens and 2 pencils cost rupees 52 find the cost of 3 pens and 2 pencils

Let cost of pen be x₹ and cost of pencil be y₹.

According to first condition,

2x+3y= 34.........(1)

According to second condition,

5x+2y= 52..........(2)

Multiply equation (1) by 2 and equation (2) by 3,

4x+6y= 68............(3)

15x+6y= 156..........(4)

Substracting equation (3) & (4) we get,

x= 8

Put x=8 in equation (1), we get,

y= 6

The cost of 3pens= 3×8

= 24₹

The cost of 2pencils= 2×6

= 12₹
