2 persons are running around a circular track of 391m length starting at same time from the same point at a speed of 17 m/s and 23 m/s respectively.when they would meet for the first time at the starting point if they were moving in opposite direction?

Let that they we will meet after t second. In this time first one will travel x distance and second one will travel 391 - x m.
For first:
Distance = x
speed = 17 m/s
time = t
We know that,
speed = distance/time
17 = x/t
x = 17t
For second:
Distance = 391 - x
speed = 23 m/s
time = t
speed = distance/time
23 = (391 - x)/t
23t = 391 - x
putting x = 17t
23t = 391 - 17t
23t + 17t = 391
40t = 391
t = 391/40
t = 9.77 second
