  1. Free = not under control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one wishes, not or no longer confined or imprisoned
  2. By ‘fatal day’ the poet means that the day will come when we will always be deprived of all the resources that Mother Nature has bestowed on us
  3. anxious because he is overthinking and reminding his bad days
