Given:
a. 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm
b. 2.5 cm, 6.5 cm and 6 cm
What to find?
We have to find whether they are Pythagorean triplets or not.
How to find?
To find whether they are Pythagorean triplets or not we will use the formula a² = b² + c² and subtitute the value.
Solution:
a. 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm
Using the formula,
⇒ a² = b² + c²
Substitute the values,
⇒ 5² = 4² + 3²
Multiply the square,
⇒ 25 = 16 + 9
Add the numbers in RHS,
⇒ 25 = 25
∴ Since a² = b² + c² they are Pythagorean Triplets.
b. 2.5 cm, 6.5 cm and 6 cm
Using the formula,
⇒ a² = b² + c²
Substitute the values,
⇒ 6.5² = 2.5² + 6²
Multiply the square,
⇒ 42.25 = 6.25 + 36
Add the numbers in RHS,
⇒ 42.25 = 42.25
∴ Since a² = b² + c² they are Pythagorean Triplets.
