Here it is given that Rajat has 3 ropes of length 1 m 20 cm, 85 cm and 2 m 40 cm.

We will first convert all the lengths into m

1 m 20 cm = 1 + 0.2

                = 1.2 m

85 cm = 0.85 m

2 m 40 cm = 2 + 0.4

                  = 2.4 m

sum of all lengths = 1.2 + 0.85 + 2.4

                              = 4.45

He needs total of 8 m rope

so, 8 - 4.45 = 3.55

Hence, he will require 3.55 m more rope.
