2. Ramesh paid 578 to the shopkeeper for purchasing some items. If the
shopkeeper returned him 23 and 56 paise, how much did he pay for the items?​

  • The 100 RS note was teared one , and the person was struggling to use the note . So when was not asked anything while he tender his note , he was happy as he is getting the value of unusable note.
  • Either the note was fake and the person was trying to come out of the burden of that note .
  • Might be he was having previous balance to pay which was adjusted by the shopkeeper so the person was silent when he received 5 inr in return.
  • Interestingly in the question it was never mentioned that the person given the 100 INR to the shopkeeper , he was owning 100 INR but not giving his 100 INR to the shopkeeper , so he might have given 80 only and shopkeeper returned the change 5 INR ,keeping his 75 INR .
