2. Ravi told his friend that his house his 1 km towards south from the
main post office. Express the displacement and the distance moved by the
friend from the post office, when he arrives at Ravi’s house. Mention the
reference point chosen by you. (2m)
3. A particle moves 3m north then 4 m east and finally 6 m south.
Calculate the distance travelled and the displacement. (3m)
4. A body thrown vertically upwards reaches a maximum height h. it
then returns to ground. Calculate the distance travelled and the displacement.
(3m)

Answer:

According to question no. given-

2) Displacement and distance both are same i.e; 1km since the path travelled by ravi's friend is straight lined.

Put reference point same as you draw it as a diagram.

3)Distance travelled= 3+4+6= 13m

For displacement-

Check out the diagram shown. x is the displacement of the particle which can be calculated using Pythagoras theorem as shown below-

4²+ 3²= x²

16+9= x²

25= x²

x= 5m

Hence, displacement of the particle= 5m

4)Since a body travels the distance h two times while going upwards and downwards, the total distance traveled is 2h.

Since the initial and final position of the body are same, the total displacement is 0.
