The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional T20 cricket league in India usually contested
between March and May of every year by eight teams representing eight different cities or
states in India. The League was founded by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007.
The inaugural IPL season was won by Rajasthan Royals in 2008.
The IPL tournament involves each team playing every other team twice in a home and away,
double round-robin format. At the conclusion of the double round robin league, the four top
teams qualify for the playoffs on the basis of aggregate points. First two teams compete with
each other in a match titled as 'Qualifier 1' whereas the remaining two teams compete with
each other in a match tiled as 'Eliminator'. Winner of 'Qi' qualifies for the final match while the
losing team gets one more chance by competing with the winner of 'Eliminator' match in a
match titled as 'Qualifier2'. Winners of both the qualifiers matches face each other in the final
to win the league,

The 2020 IPL also known as IPL 13 and branded as Dream 11 Indian Premier League 2020, was
the thirteenth season of the IPL.
The tournament was originally scheduled to commence on 29 March 2020, but was suspended
until 15 April due to the global coronavirus pandemic. After Indian PM Narendra Modi
announced on 14 April that the lockdown in India would last until at least 3 May 2020, the BCCI
suspended the tournament indefinitely. After the ICC postponed the 2020 edition of the Men's
T20 World Cup, the BCCI sought Govt of India permission to move the tournament to the UAE.
Later on the BCCI was granted permission. On 2Aug 2020, it was announced that the
