Answer:

the thin one will sink

Explanation:

the thin one has less area of contact with the ground  so there is increase in pressure  also,

it has the rod has the same mass and length as the other one we can conclude the the thin one will sink

Answer:

Thin rod will sink first in the sand.

Explanation:

We know that

➡ Pressure ∝ Force

➡ Pressure ∝ 1 / Area

Clearly, from above we see that if Force is more, pressure will be more.

But if area is more, pressure will be less.

Here it is given that one rod is thin while other rod is thick.

So, here, area of thick rod > area of thin rod.

Here, the basis of the question is point of contact. The gravitational constant will exert similar pressure on both the rods. So the force will be constant for both.

But its proved above that both the rods are not equal in area.

So the rod having more area that is the thick rod will observe less pressure.

While, the rod having less area that is the thin rod will observe more pressure. So, if the pressure will be more, it will observe more faster rate of work.

Hence, the thin rod will sink first in the sand.
