X+Y=17 --------------- equation 1st

the second condition,

X-5=Y

X-Y=5 -------------- equation 2nd

Add equation 1&2, we get,

X+Y=17

X-Y =5

2X=22

X=11

put X=11 in equation 1st ,we get,

X+Y=17

11+Y=17

Y=17-11

Y=6
