2. Shyamnagar is a hill station. Sameer lives in Shyamnagar with his parents. On one day,
the temperature of Shyamnagar at 12 noon was 5 °C above zero. It decreased at the rate
of 1 °C per hour until mid-night. On that night Sameer was suffering from high fever.
The hospital was 5 km away from his home. It was very cold outside and there was
no vehicle available. Sameer's father asked his neighbours for help. They immediately
offered to take Sameer in their jeep.
(a) At what time would the temperature of Shyamnagar be 0 °C?
(b) At what time would the temperature of Shyamnagar be 10 °C below zero?
(c) What would be the temperature of Shyamnagar at mid-night?

Answer:

a) at 5 pm(evening)

b)at 3 am(morning)

c) -7

Step-by-step explaination:

a) temperature at 12 noon= +5

temperature decreases at the rate of 1 per hour

this implies that the temperature would be 0 after 5 hours from 12 noon

time at 5 hours after 12 noon = 5 pm(evening)

b)the temperature would be 10 below 0, 10 hours after 5pm as it was 0 at 5 pm

time at 5 hours after 5pm= 3am(morning)

c)temperature at 12 midnight would be 12 less than the temperature at 12 noon ( as the time difference between 12 noon and 12 midnight is 12 hours)

that is  5-12= -7

therefore temperature at 12 midnight is -7

d) the helpful nature of the neighbours is depicted here
