2 {sin}^{2} A +  {cos}^{4} A \\  = 2 {sin}^{2} A + ( { {cos}^{2}A })^{2}  \\  = 2 {sin}^{2} A+ ( {1 -  {sin}^{2} A})^{2}  \\  = 2 {sin}^{2} A + 1 +  {sin}^{4} A - 2 {sin}^{2} A \\  = 1 +  {sin}^{4} A
