a to question,

8x + 40 + 7y - 14 = -5

8x +7y = -31. _ (1)

now, 2x + 16 -4-y= 5

2x - y= -7 _ (2)

now multiply by 7 in eq (2) and subtract eAch other,

14x -7y = -49

8x +7y= -31

_________

22x= - 80

x = -80/ 22= -40/ 11

now, put value of x in eq 2

2× -40/ 11- y = -7

-80/ 11+7 = y

-80+ 77/ 11= y

y= -3/ 11

so these are answers hope it is good for u.....
