2. Solve graphically 5x – y-7=0 and x –y +1 =0. shade the triangular region bounded by these lines and y axis and find the area of the triangle bounded by these lines and y axis. Plzzz do it step by step if you are doing the question also send pic of the graph. No spam . Plz.

Given:

The equations are

5x-y-7=0

x-y+1=0

To find:

Area of triangle bounded by these lines and y axis.

Solution:

Table of values for 5x-y-7=0 is

x       y

0     -7

1       -2

2      3

Table of values for x-y+1=0 is

x       y

0      1

-1      0

2      3

Plot the points from the above tables on a coordinate plane and connect them by straight lines as show below.

The lines intersect each other at (2,3).

From the figure it is clear that base of the triangle bounded by these lines and y axis is 8 units and height is 2 units.

Area of triangle is

Area=\dfrac{1}{2}\times base\times height

Area=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 8\times 2

Area=\dfrac{16}{2}

Area=8

Therefore, the area of triangle is 8 sq. units.
