Given :-

  • 2x + y = 5
  • 3x - y = 5

To find :-

Value of x

Solution:-

Given two equations by observing these 2 equations If we add two equations y get cancel then we can find x value From x value we can find y value also by substuiting x value in any equation

2x + y = 5 ---- eq 1

3x - y = 5 ---- eq 2

By adding equation 1, 2 We get,

2x + y + 3x - y = 5 + 5

Keep like terms together

2x + 3x + y - y = 10

5x = 10

x = \sf\dfrac{10}{5}

x = 2

Substuite value of x in equation 1

2x + y = 5

2(2) + y = 5

4 + y = 5

y = 5-4

y = 1

So, the values of x, y are 2, 1

Verification:-

Substuite value of x, y in two equations It should be satisfy LHS = RHS

Eq :- 1

2x + y = 5

2(2) + (1) = 5

4 + 1 = 5

5 = 5 (Equation 1 satisfied)

Eq:- 2

3x - y = 5

3(2) - 1 = 5

6 - 1 = 5

5 = 5 ( Equation 2 satisfied)

So, both equations satisfied

Finally x = 2 ; y = 1
