Answer:

(a) 2(x + 4) = 12

(x + 4) = 6

x = 2

(b) 3(n - 5) = 21

n - 5 = 7

n = 12

(c) 3(n - 5) = -21

n - 5 = -7

n = -2

(d) - 4(2 + x) = 8

2 + x = -2

x = -4

(e) 4( 2 - x) = 8

2 - x= 2

x = 0

Hope it will help u....

Step-by-step explanation:

a) 2(x+4) = 12

multiplying 2 with the equation in bracket

2x +8 = 12

taking 8 to the right hand side

2x= 12-8

2x = 4

x= 2

b) 3(n-5)=21

3n-15 = 21

taking 15 to the right hand side

3n= 21+15

3n= 36

n= 36/3

n= 12

c) 3(n-5) = -21

3n- 15 = -21

3n = -21 +15

3n = -6

n= -2

d) -4(2+x)=8

-8-4x = 8

-4x = 16

x= 16/-4

x= -4

e) 4(2-x) = 8

8 - 4x = 8

-4x = 0

therefore x= 0
