2x {}^{2}  - 3x + 5 = 0 \\ 2x {}^{2} - (5 - 2)x + 5 = 0 \\ 2x {}^{2}   - 5x + 2x + 5 = 0 \\ x(2x - 5) + 1(2x - 5) = 0 \\ (x + 1)(2x - 5)  = 0\\  \\ x + 1 = 0 \\ x =  - 1 \\  \\ 2x - 5 = 0 \\ 2x = 5 \\ x =  \frac{5}{2}

Hi there !

_______________________

2x² - 3x + 5 = 0

On splitting the middle term ;

⇒ 2x² - ( 5 - 2 )x + 5 = 0

⇒ 2x² - 5x + 2x + 5 = 0

⇒ 2x ( x + 1 ) - 5 ( x + 1 ) = 0

⇒ ( x + 1 ) ( 2x - 5 ) = 0

Therefore,

• ( x + 1 ) = 0

• x = - 1

And,

• ( 2x - 5 ) = 0

• 2x = 5

• x = 5 / 2

Hence, the value of x is ( - 1 ) and 5 / 2.
