Question :-

The area of a trapezium is 34 cm² and the length of one of the parallel sides is 10 cm and its height is 4 cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

Given :-

  • Area of trapezium = 34 cm²

  • Length of one parallel side = 10 cm

  • Height = 4cm

To find :-

  • Length of other parallel sides ?

Formula used :-

⠀⠀{\boxed{\large{\bold{Area\:=\: \dfrac{1}{2}\:(a+b)\:×h}}}}

Solution :-

⠀⠀ Area =  \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (a + b)  \times h

⠀⠀34 =  \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (10 + b)  \times 4

⠀⠀34 =   (10 + b)  \times 2

⠀⠀17 =   (10 + b)

⠀⠀b = 17 - 10

⠀⠀b = 7

Hence, the required length = 7 cm.
