A dye is nothing but the colored substances always contains Chromophore group. That is called as (b) Chromogen.

Chromogens

  • Mainly the color of the organic substances is due to the presence of some unsaturation in the compound which is called as chromophores.
  • Examples of chromophores are azo, azoxy, carbonyl groups and so on.,
  • These chromophores which absorb the wavelength of white light and reflects back the supplementary color.
  • A colored substance containing a chromophore is termed as (b) chromogen.
