Given :- The cost of a smartphone is *18,500. If the shopkeeper sells it at a loss of 5%.

To Find :-

a) find its selling price.

b) At what price should the shopkeeper sell it to earn a profit of 5% ?

Solution :-

→ cost Price of smartphone = Rs.18500

→ Loss = 5% .

So,

→ selling Price = {CP * (100 - Loss%)} / 100 = {18500 * (100 - 5) } / 100 = (18500 * 95)/100 = Rs.17,575 (Ans . a)

Now,

→ cost Price of smartphone = Rs.18500

→ Profit = 5% .

So,

→ selling Price = {CP * (100 + Profit%)} / 100 = {18500 * (100 + 5) } / 100 = (18500 * 105)/100 = Rs.19,425 (Ans . b)
