GivEn:

  • age of 10 teacher in year : 36, 44, 39, 46, 35, 53, 38, 42, 55, 45.

To finD:

  • Range of age of teachers.

Solution:

Basically,

Range is the difference between the highest observation and lowest observation. We can find it simply by subtracting lower observation from higher observation.

_____________________________

Here, given that age of 10 teachers of a school are 36, 44, 39, 46, 35, 53, 38, 42, 55 and 45 years.

Arranging data in ascending order :-( lower to higher)

Ages of teachers in ascending order we get :

35,36,38,39,42,44,45,47,53,55

Finding range:

As we above discussed that range can be calculated by substituting lower observation from higher observation.

Formula :

Range = Higher age - lower age

Here,

  • Highest age teacher = 55 years
  • Lowest age of teacher = 35 years.

Substituting values in this :

Range of age of teachers = Highest age - lowest age

=> 55 - 35

=> 20

Therefore,

Range of age of teachers are : 20 years.
