Given :-

  • Length of both sides of trapezium are 18 m and 8 m respectively .
  • Area of trapezium is 130 cm²

To Find :-

  • The distance between the parallel sides of trapezium .

Solution :-

Length of one side of trapezium ( DC ) = 8 cm

Length of the second side of the trapezium ( AB ) = 18 cm

Area of trapezium ABCD = 130 cm²

Let height of the trapezium ( DL ) = 'x'

Now,

➙ Area of trapezium = \frac{1}{2} × (sum of parallel sides) × Height

➙ 130 cm² = \frac{1}{2} × (8 cm + 18 cm ) × x

➙ 130 cm² = \frac{1}{2} × 26 cm × x

➙ 130 cm² = \frac{1}{\cancel{2}} × {\cancel{26}} cm × x

➙ 130 cm² = 13 × x

➙ x = \dfrac{130cm²}{13cm}

➙ x = \dfrac{\cancel{130cm²}}{\cancel{13cm}}

x = 10 cm

∴ Distance between the parallel sides of the trapezium is 10 cm .
