x+y=8-------------------------------------(1)
and, y-x=18------------------------------------(2)
By (1)+(2) we get,
x+y+y-x=8+18=>2y=26=>y=13
Therefore, y=13
Now,Putting the value of y in (2) we get,
13-x=18=>x=-5
Therefore, x=-5
