Answer:

Given :-

  • The sum of two numbers is 100. If exceeds the other by 10.

To Find :-

  • What is the number.

Solution :-

Let, the first number be x

And, the second number will be x + 10

According to the question,

\sf x + x + 10 =\: 100

\sf 2x + 10 =\: 100

\sf 2x = 100 - 10

\sf 2x =\: 90

\sf x =\: \dfrac{\cancel{90}}{\cancel{2}}

\sf\bold{\red{x =\: 45}}

Hence, the required numbers are,

First number = x = 45

Second number = x + 10 = 45 + 10 = 55

\therefore The numbers are 45 and 55.

\\

VERIFICATION :-

\sf x + x + 10 =\: 100

By putting x = 45 we get,

\sf 45 + 45 + 10 =\: 100

\sf 100 =\: 100

LHS = RHS
