Desert areas have very high temperatures during
daytime. Does that mean the rate of transpiration
in desert plants is higher than plants in hilly areas?

theoretically it is true but the plants of desert areas are adapted to the harsh hot condition.

their leaves are modified into spines which reduces the water loss.

also they have fleshy stem to hold more water.
