radius of circle 1 (C 1) = 5.5cm

radius of circle 2 (C 2 ) = 4.2 cm

distance between centres of circles= C 1 + C 2

= 5.5+4.2 = 9.7 cm

If the circles touch externally then the distance between their centres = sum of their radii
